Harsh drain chemicals vs. biological septic treatment

On a private septic system, what goes down the drain matters. 4-in-One cleans your plumbing biologically and supports the system it drains into.

Common approach

Harsh chemical drain cleaners

  • Force a clog open with lye or acid
  • Send those chemicals straight into your septic tank
  • Add nothing to the bacteria your septic system relies on

This treatment

Nature's Pond 4-in-One

  • Adds beneficial bacteria and enzymes to the system
  • Cleans drains on the way down, then works in the tank
  • Safe for people, pets, livestock and wildlife when used as directed

Why it works

Septic treatment for farms, cottages and cabins

Rural septic systems work hard. 4-in-One puts an ultra-concentrated blend of beneficial bacteria and enzymes to work from the drain to the tank, with no harsh chemicals.

Breaks down fats, oils and grease

Beneficial bacteria and enzymes metabolize the fats, oils and grease that clog pipes and plumbing.

Reduces septic solids and sludge

In the tank, it breaks down organic matter to reduce solid waste and sludge.

Cleaner discharge to the ground

Reduces excess nutrients, including phosphates and nitrates, in the liquid effluent returned to the ground.

Fewer clogs and odours

Helps reduce clogs and unpleasant odours in drains, plumbing and appliances.

Built for rural living

The label gives doses for household drains, outhouses, portable toilets and RVs, so one product covers the farm, the cottage and the camper.

Scales up to lagoons

Recommended rates also cover farm manure pits and sewage lagoons, as well as restaurant drains and busy barns.

Questions and answers

Rural septic treatment FAQ

Using 4-in-One on farm, cottage and cabin septic systems.

What does 4-in-One do for a rural septic system?
It is an ultra-concentrated blend of beneficial bacteria and enzymes that cleans drains and plumbing on the way to the tank. It metabolizes fats, oils and grease, helps reduce odours, breaks down organic solids and sludge in the septic tank, and reduces excess nutrients in the liquid effluent returned to the ground.
How much should I add to my septic system?
For household toilets, sinks and drains, add 1 L every 8 weeks. For dishwashers and washing machines, add 0.25 L every 8 weeks. Follow the application chart on the label for other uses.
Can I use it in an outhouse or at the cabin?
Yes. For outhouse toilets that are not connected to a septic system, mix 0.25 L into 10 L of water every 3 weeks. For portable outdoor toilets, add 1 L after each cleaning, and for RVs, add 0.25 L after each cleaning.
Can it be used in a farm manure pit or sewage lagoon?
Yes. The recommended rate for farms, manure pits and sewage lagoons is 4 L diluted 1:10 in water every 4 weeks. For busy hog, chicken and cattle barns, the rate is 0.125 L each day.
Is it safe for livestock and wildlife?
Yes, when used as directed. The label states it is safe for people, pets, livestock, fish, birds and wildlife when used as directed. The concentrate may irritate eyes and skin, so wear gloves and eye protection when pouring and keep it out of reach of children.
Do I still need to pump my septic tank?
Yes. A septic treatment is not a substitute for pumping. Have your tank inspected and pumped on the schedule recommended for your system, and use 4-in-One between service visits to help break down organic waste.
How should I store it at a seasonal property?
Keep it tightly closed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place at room temperature, and do not let it freeze. If the cottage or cabin is unheated over the winter, take the container home rather than leaving it behind. It has a long shelf life. Keep it out of reach of children.
What protective gear should I wear when pouring it?
Wear gloves and eye protection, and avoid contact with your eyes and skin. If it splashes in your eyes, rinse with plenty of water for several minutes and get medical attention if irritation persists. Wash your hands after handling, and see the label and safety data sheet for full first aid.
